About the Department<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Sanskrit department of Narasinha Dutt College is very old. Most probably it was established on 1941. At first Sanskrit was taught in this college as a general subject. Gradually the Honours course was introduced and many students got the opportunity to study Sanskrit as an Honours subject.<\/p>\n

A number of eminent teachers have taught in this department in the past.The department is very proud to mention the name of Late Prof.Karunasindhu Das, the ex-vice-chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University,who taught in the Sanskrit department of this college for a certain period of time. Dr. Amit Bhattacharya, the Associate Professor of this department, joined as a professorof University of Calcutta in 2015. The library has a collection of books and publications authored by him.<\/p>\n

The department, at present,has two whole time teachers, one part time teacher and two guest lecturers. The student-teacher relation is very good. The teachers work hard to fulfil the need of the students.<\/p>\n
