At that time it offered only Zoology general courses. From the year 1970 Zoology honours courses was introduced.From then this department has been maintaining its glorious tradition of making the excellent results at the undergraduate examinations under the University of Calcutta. The Zoology department is also glorified by the students involved in various important professions.The department is like a family where the teachers and students are involved in the teaching and learning process not only in the classroom but beyond that. Faculties, students and staff members have access to Internet Facility in the Department for gathering knowledge related to the recent progresses.<\/li>\n<li>Class rooms with ICT facility:One Laptop, one projector and one smart board are present in the ICT classroom of the Department with which the faculties give power-point presentation to the students and the students also use it for giving their seminars in the Department.<\/li>\n<li>Laboratories:Students Lab-2 (Practical classes for the students are conducted here)Research Lab (Microscope with attached camera, set up for DNA isolation and gel electrophoresis and other instruments are available for research activities).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Parents \u2013Teacher meeting<\/strong> :\n<ol>\n<li>Parent eachers Meeting was held at the Department of Zoology for Sem 1 and Sem 2 students on 13.11.2019<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teacher\u2019s Day celebration\u00a0<\/strong>Teacher\u2019s Day celebrated\u00a0by the students at the Department of Zoology on 5.09.2019. Both the teachers and the students celebrated the day with a cultural programme at the Department.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Participation in Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR): Students, Faculties and NTS of the Department of Zoology are regularly involved in Institutional Social Responsibility such as tree plantation, cleaning and restoration of water bodies, hygiene maintenance, awareness campaigns, environmental service through Nature Club\/Eco Club etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tab][vc_tab title=&#8221;Seminar\/Excursion&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1596523646311-2-4&#8243;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;left-to-right&#8221;]1.An <strong>One day International invited lecture was organised jointly by the Department of Zoology and the IQAC of the college on 30.09.2019<\/strong>. Topic was \u201c Biology and Genomics for Cancer Therapy\u201d. The speakers were Dr. Santasree Banerjee (BGI-SHENZHEN-CHINA) and Sri Krishnendu Ghosh(Research Scholar, University of Calcutta)<\/p>\n<p>2.<strong>Excursion to Alipore Zoo was held on 20.01.2020 with the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> year Zoology Hons<\/strong> The students were guided by three teachers, Dr. Mohua Guha, Dr. Shampa Sarkar and Dr. Anirban Sinha. Sri Dibyendu Pakhira joined the team as Laboratory assistant. <strong>A group photo was taken in front of the animal house at the Zoo on that day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3.<strong>Excursion to Ramkrishna Mission, Narendrapur was held on 11.02.2020 with the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> year Zoology General students<\/strong>. The students visited the Dairy farm, Poultry Farm, Mushroom cultivation centre there. The students were accompanied by the departmental teachers Prof. Subrata Kr.
