Year of establishment : 1961

The Commerce Department (Evening Section) in our college was established in the year 1961 and has both general and honours course for boy students. The Day Section for Commerce for general course for both boy and girl students was established in the year 1972. In the year 2012 (Session 2012-13), B. Com. (Honours) for girl students was opened in the day section. At present, more than 100 girl students are pursuing B. Com. (Hons) in the Evening Section.

Day Section has been merged with Evening Section from the year 2018 (Session 2018-19). CBCS System was introduced in the year 2017 (Session 2017-18).

2. The commerce department had organized departmental seminars and parents teachers meeting in the previous years.

Achievements

Some students of the commerce department of our college had participated in 2010-11, 2011-12 & 2014-15 inter college football and volleyball competition organized by CU Runners and WB Govt. CHAMP and came out with flying colours.

  • Arkadeep Makhal of B.Com(Hons) 1st  year became 2nd in both Vault & Pommel Horse in 4th Jr. State Artistic Gymnastics Championship 2017-2018 organized by Kolkata District Gymnastics Association.
  • NDC became champion in Inter-College Volleyball Tournament organized by CU in 2018-19. The following volleyballers from our Dept. represented our college – Sourav Jana (Captain), Subhasis Dhar, Hriday Maity & Avijit Middya of B.Com. (Gen) 3rd year; Biltu Barui, Dipanjan Ghosh & Akash Chatterjee of B.Com. 2nd year; Saheb Ghoshal of B.Com. 1st year.
  • Aakash Dhara of B.Com.(Gen) 2nd year became Champion of Champions in NDC Annual Sports 2018-19.
  • Amit Guchait of B.Com. (Gen) 1st year became Champion of Champions with Shot Put – Gold, Discus – Gold in Howrah District Level (Inter-College) organized by State Govt & RKM. He awarded with Gold in Discus in State Level (Inter-College) organized by State Govt. and also awarded Silver in Discus in C.U. Athletics Meet 2019-20.
  • Arkadeep Makhal of B.Com.(Hons) 3rd year became 1st in Table Vault, 1st in Pommel Horse, 3rd in Floor Exercise & 3rd in All-Round Championship.
  • NDC has become back-to-back Champion in 2019-20 in C.U. organized Inter-College Volleyball Competition. The following students of our Dept. represented Champion N.D. College: Sourav Jana of B.Com.(Gen) 3rd year, Saheb Ghoshal of B.Com. (Gen) 2nd year, Srijit Chatterjee & Arijit Ghoshal of B.Com.(Gen.) 1st year. More over Sourav Jana, Saheb Ghoshal were selected for C.U. Volleyball Team.
  • NDC participated in Inter-College Football Tournaments organized by C.U.(2nd Round), Reliance(Q/F at the State Level) and became Champion in Howrah Dist. Organized by RKM Vidyamandir & W.B. Govt. but lost in the 2nd round at the State Level. Following students of our Dept. represented NDC: Sayan Kumar Das, Sourav Majumdar, Subhajeet Das, Rohit Roy, Anish Hazra, Pankaj Naskar, Kuntal Singh of 1st year; Arup Santra of 2nd year & Suryanath Das of 3rd year.
  • These two students played in Calcutta Cricket League (2nd Div.) organised by CAB : Akhtar Ali(CCFC) of 2nd year and Rahul palodhi(Salkia Friends) of 3rd year.
  • Amiyo Ghosh 1st year became Champion in 109 kg both Junior and Senior in 72nd WB state weightlifting Championship 2021 held in March-April 2022.
  • Soumyajit Samanta of 1st year represented CU in Karate at All India level. Moreover he became champion( Kumite/75kg) in 5th Warrior National Karate championship organised by Karate Do development Society and Kabir Karate academy approved by Karate  association of India in December 2021.
  • Manas Guha of 2nd year won gold medals in Kata & Kumite  in 2nd Siraj-Ud-Daullaah Cup Karate Championship.
